Why is Parliament quiet in COVID-19?
Markets are reopened, offices became regular, economy back to
work, religious places are planned to reopen while buses, autos, trains are
full of passengers but still “Our Parliament is quiet. The gates of Indian
legislature are still closed.”
More than 5000 notification are been issued by the executive
in last 60 days, who will ask them about their orders if the parliament will
remain close.
In this emergency situation isn’t that parliament’s responsibility
to call a special session to ask our executive about their every order, whether
its 20 lakh crore package or special trains for the migrant workers.
All the other big democracies over the globe had passed this
pandemic act in their country. But our legislature is Quiet.
Our elected ministers “who have the power and duty to ask
the government” are might be sleeping in their houses. Are they afraid of
Corona or are they afraid of ground reality or are they afraid of their responsibility.
Remember, if the parliament is not standing for people
in their difficult times, then why the people will stand by them in election
time?
If the accountability of the government is not set, then it
might lead to dictatorship. And then the responsibility of legislature is under
big QUESTION MARK.
Now it's a high time to think for us that for whom we are casting our vote.
Note: Legislature does not comprise of only government but also opposition and all elected members.
