Have we forgotten Patriotism over Nationalism?
From last 6-7 years, the word "Nationalism" became so popular that now somewhere it is fading our most favorite feeling of "Patriotism". In school days we love to call ourselves patriotic with full of joy and energy especially on the national days like August 15 and Jan 26.
But now can you call "I am Nationalist" with that same joy and energy. This might be difficult for you to choose.
Let me make you familiar with the definitions of these two:
Patriotism: A patriotic person is a person who loves his country and his every action is in order to keep the pride of his country. He respects everyone but cannot just walk away when someone disrespects his country. An excellent example would be Akshay Kumar's role in "Namastey London" where he beautifully presents the uniqueness and diversity of Indian culture. But at the same time if something is going wrong, then he should also raise his voice against it. Because ultimate aim of Patriotism is to make my country more beautiful.
Nationalism: This also teach us to love our country, love at any cost. A definition wise it is above patriotism. Its an immense feeling that our country is the best. But in the same "Nationalism world" if any person raises his voice against any illness of the society, then he will be called an "Anti- Nationalist". STRANGE!!!!!!
Some say that "Nationalism" is right wing ideology, but in reality it has nothing to do with right wing or left wing. It is our feeling and emotions and how do we want our society to evolve. How do we see our homeland. Do we want to change it for its betterment or accept it as it is.
It's totally up to you to choose between the two: "Patriotism" or "Nationalism"
Before leaving the page, do you know about "Fascism"? Just search and think aren't we heading towards that?
