LIBERTY or EQUALITY?

Take 2 minutes before reading this article, just think about what you want LIBERTY or EQUALITY?

Liberty and Equality are two contradicting words. The whole world from past 80 years especially after WW2 is stuck in the middle of this.

Liberty means freedom, freedom to explore, freedom to exploit and freedom for expression as well as freedom to kill somebody. So, along with freedom, it also brings some restrictions for better handling the situation. This restriction is known as “LAW”. One more important point: Liberty too leads to inequality.

Equality on the other hand brings the equal status, whether good or bad, rich or poor, equal means same access to resources, same standard and getting equal opportunity. Sometimes equality hurdles the development, imagine a country with all poors!!!

What you choose? LIBERTY or EQUALITY?

Choosing between Liberty or Equality reflects the mental map of a person. Generally underprivileged people go for Equality whereas privileged section prefers Liberty.

Same is the case with India, if you ask General category student, they favours Liberty to some extend whereas OBC, SC and ST will definitely prefers Equality as they are vulnerable sections.

And this difference in ideologies is not bad. It just shows the condition, the situation that particular person undergoes throughout his life.

Same describes the world fight from last 80 years between Capitalism and Communism. USA sides Liberty and USSR favour Equality. These clashes are not only inter-continental but also intra-regional (within our society).

Ideologies also shift, eg. When a poor favours Equality, after the upliftment of particular person, he will demand Liberty.

So, it’s all about the game where you stand.
